Denver Health is Colorado's primary "safety net" institution, and is home to the Rocky Mountain Regional Level I Trauma Center accredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). In addition, the Center for Complex Fractures and Limb Restoration is a tertiary referral source for orthopaedic trauma, complex musculoskeletal problems, non-unions and other complex problems of fracture healing. Seven trauma surgeons are all fellowship trained in complex fracture care, caring for nearly 3,000 complex cases a year and performing some of the most complex procedures in medicine today. As part of a research, training and fellowship program, the center attracts top physicians from around the world. The team highly values the incorporation of research into the department. With 5 fully dedicated research staff members to support the orthopaedic trauma physicians, the team's productivity remains high in all areas of research: prospective investigator initiated clinical trials, industry sponsored clinical trials, retrospective studies, and basic science research. The research team has a proven track record of success in enrollment and patient follow-up, accuracy in regulatory documentation and precise protocol compliance. The orthopaedic team strives to maintain a high level of expertise throughout the United States through model patient care and groundbreaking research.
