Over 4,300 trauma patients are admitted annually and the hospital has the highest ER visits in the state each year (120,000/yr). The Orthopaedic Trauma Program is 18 years old. The research efforts are supported by a 6 person Clinical Research Division. The program presents and published over 8 original papers a year and was a co-recipient of the 2003 Kappa Delta Award for the LEAP Study. The Orthopaedic Trauma Team is actively engaged in over 20 research projects at this time, ranging from investigator initiated to FDA Clinical Trials. The Orthopaedic Trauma Team has significant experience with multi-center trials and emphasizes the value of prospective, randomized outcomes research. CMC was a participant in the LEAP Study and is a member of both the SEF and the OTR Consortiums.
