Michael Bosse, MD Captain, USNR (ret), is an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon and Director of Orthopaedic Clinical Research at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1974, Dr. Bosse completed medical school at the University of Maryland. He returned to the US Navy, and received his training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Naval Hospital, San Diego and Trauma Fellowship training at the Baltimore Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Bosse was then assigned as the orthopaedic trauma surgeon to the Naval Hospitals in Portsmouth Virginia and Bethesda Maryland. He served as the Chief of Orthopaedc Surgery on the Hospital Ship Comfort during Desert Storm and retired from the Reserves as a U.S. Navy Captain. Prior to assuming his current position, Dr Bosse was as orthopaedic trauma surgeon at the University of Maryland / Baltimore Shock Trauma Center. His academic interests include all aspects of the care of the multiply injured patient with emphasis on outcomes studies. He has published over 75 research articles on trauma related topics. Research investigating outcome following severe lower extremity injury received the Kappa Delta Award from the AAOS in 2003. Dr. Bosse is a Past President of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
